The axle on a direct drive hub motor won't spin freely. If I spin my direct drive motor wheel with the bike off the ground the wheel will only spin a half dozen times +/-. In comparison the front wheel will spin for minutes. I don't think anything is wrong with your bike. Good luck, good spring riding!. Rear wheel especially may not spin freely when new, fresh grease in the freehub and bearings etc. the front wheel should be much freer, but again the bearings will be fully greased which does add a little drag... I've got a Boardman hybrid comp too, and the rear wheel doesn't seem to spin that freely, although I can't hear or see any rubbing.

This hub on my new bike doesn't spin freely. It's a vuelta front wheel hub. I pulled it off the bike and when I hold either side and spin it there is a distinct spot where it binds. When it's mounted and I spin it, it's a constant friction not allowing more than a couple of full revolutions. Sounds like the tyres not seated properly, take the wheel off and spin it, see if you can see a bulge going round, deflate the tyre and push the bead down onto the rim all the way round and reinflate accountantpete Brexiteer 21 Aug 2012 #4 As above - presumably the wheel wasn't seated right or the tyre was rubbing.

Rather important, as you have already noticed, the wheel won't spin freely otherwise. Ideally you should take the cassette out, clean the cup properly, put in as many bearings as they will fit in the circumference, and then take one out. That will be the correct number of bearings. Finally got the bike up and pulled the covers off the belt. I can spin the wheel and now and then it will make the popping. Rear wheel won#x27;t spin freely - Sport Bikes. But when i give the wheel a hard spin it makes a half turn an suddenly stops. my rear wheel doesnt feel this resistant, and thats with a chain and sprockets. Prying didn't help. Prying and hitting the side popped it loose and it moved back into position with no further problems. Wheel is spinning freely as it should. Rode it a bit (trying to find a place that had a replacement screw for the brake reservoir, found one!), everything seems ok now.

Also, at least for my 250, you had to make sure the speedometer housing was installed correctly (about a 20 degree range), otherwise the wheel wouldn't spin properly; make sure you're installing that correctly. It may be different on the 500, but the bikes are very similar, so I would doubt it: 250 Front Wheel Install Guide. You can check them with a pencil or something, brace the pencil on the fork so the tip almost touches the rotor, then rotate the wheel. Pay attention to the gap, or lack of gap between the pencil and the rotors. Will give you some idea if the rotors are warped. My frame up 650R Ninja build. nidyanazo;4684699 said: Tony216 Registered.
Why is my new front wheel not spinning? - Bicycles Stack.
Front wheel doesn’t spin as freely as I like I have a 2020 Allez with the stock Axis wheels. The front wheel spins down to a stop after maybe 15-20 seconds. There isn’t really any noticeable resistance or grinding. It just stops spinning quite a bit faster than other bikes I tried.

Answer (1 of 2): These sorts of problems typically require in-person diagnosis. But there's a couple things you might check. First, make sure it's not the brake pads rubbing against the rim. A common mistake when mounting a wheel is to not get it properly fitted against the fork stops, which wi. Step 4: Now, you need to lose the tension of the belt. You will find an Eddie Mech Idler bracket which is hard to miss irrespective of the model of your exercise bike. You will find a slightly big adjustment nut and an idler bolt on the outer and lower side of the Eddie mech bracket. You can lose or tighten the belt tensions by adjusting these. Start trouble shooting. If you don't have a bike stand or rack, flip the bike upside down. Then spin your front wheel. Eye the rotors first to see if there is any friction on the pads. Generally, the rear wheel on your bike will not spin for as long as the front wheel does, even with the same effort. Conclusion. The cause of the bike's rear-wheel not spinning freely is not limited to the situation when the wheel touches the break. In some cases, there won't even be any noticeable drag. Sorry for the late update, but the problem is solved now. I checked on the bike after a month to find that the front brakes were dragging now too, even more than the front (even hard to rotate by hand). Took Riceburner's suggestion and everything seemed to clear up after one ride. Wheels both spin freely when on the centre stand now.

As far as I know there isn't a actual measurement. Put your bike on its centre stand, place a trolley jack underneath it and raise the bike slightly, spin the front wheel, if it spins freely your good to go. My issue with my 2010 cam head GS is that pistons were bone dry from new causing uneven wear on the front pads. 3 Answers Sorted by: 10 The most likely problem is that the brakes are rubbing. If you pick up the front of the bike, hold your head near the brakes and spin the wheel you shouldn't hear any noise from the brakes. If you do, then the brakes are. 623 Posts. Discussion Starter · #1 · a moment ago. I received a DT Swiss hub that seems suspect of being either defective, or a fake. The hub in question is a DT Swiss front hub, older version. When squeezing the axle with my fingers and giving it a spin, it barely spins. As opposed to the hub I just removed from my wheel that spins smoothly.

Jul 25, 2015. #1. Summary: Rotor/hub/caliper assembly spins fine, but when you put on the wheel and lug it down, it won't spin at all. Replaced rear brakes for a 2004 camry. Just decided to change out pads/rotors. Rotors were stuck on, had to use the little bolt holes to thread in bolts and push out the rotor. Time to change pads, pads came off.
Scraping noise coming from rear wheel when moving in neutral.
Took my bike in to have the handlebars re-wrapped, brakes adjusted and new inner tubes installed.... When I went to pick it up the front wheel would not roll and the back brakes were over tightened to the point they rub the wheel and it doesn't spin freely. The tires were over inflated and the handle bar tape still isn't right.

The two spacers for the front wheel are identical. Here is a parts diagram. Remove the brake caliper and see if the wheel turns freely. If not, issue is in the axle. Loosen everything and see if it moves freely. Retighten and recheck. If not, take the axle back out, check spacers, grease the seals, little grease on the axle, and reinsert.
Bike Rear Wheel Not Spinning Freely - What You Should Know.
Usually, E-bike comes with two kinds of motor Hub motor and Mid-drive motor. Hub motor, as the name suggests, is connected to wheel hub; some bike has hub motor on the front wheel, and some bike has hub motor on the rear wheel. The mid-drive motor is connected with bike pedals in the middle of the bike. When lifted does the front tire spin freely or does it have any resistance at any point in it's 360 degree rotation? Perhaps take the bike out and have a couple buddies go with you and observe the front wheel as you ride see if they spot an abnormal wobble.... Even as a newbie I must say that the front end doesn't feel "right" sitting still.

Remove the wheel, undo the locking nut and the cone by 1/8 of a turn. Hold the cone with your cone-wrench and relock the locking nut. Put the wheel back in and re-tighten the axle. If it turns smoothly it's OK. If it's too loose now, take it out again and tighten the cone by a hair. It's a kind of game, time consuming and nothing to do in a hurry. Not to be pedantic, but the correct tightening sequence (from the manual) is: 1. axle bolt 2. right pinch bolts 3. bounce the front end to let the forks align to the axle 4. left pinch bolts OP: while everything is loose (before tightening everything up again) see if the wheel spins freely. It should go around at least once or so before stopping. Well, he's wrong. My 2011 STI had enough tension in the rear with the LSD that when swapping wheels I could jack up the rear from the differential and torque down both sides with or without the e-brake. The rear wouldn't spin freely if the front wheels were on the ground. Jack up front and rear and I could spin all 4 wheels freely.
