Dec 1, 2014. #1. Hey guys, I recently decided to upgrade my system from a gtx670 to the new Asus 970 Strix..... However I have terrible coil whine issues, I have already rmaed 3 and I have the same problems on my 4th, on 80-100 fps the card is buzzing and it also affects the sound output... I would like to know if anyone has purchased a 970 gpu.

For clarity: many newer MB with PCIe 4.0 (or better), need the PCIe slots set to 3.0 manually, in BIOS, known to cause other issues with older 3.0 PCIe GPUs if left in Auto (abbreviated your first post) stargatesg1 While it was my 900d build it was quite as a mouse at max settings on any game, even valley benchmark at max everything looping for a couple of hours had no whine or hissing.

Here is the HP Omen 30L configuration sent to TechRadar for review: CPU: Intel Core i9-10900K (3.7GHz base, 5.3GHz boost, 20MB cache) Graphics: Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080. RAM: 4 x 8GB HyperX Fury. PCI-E generation doesn't really matter when we are talking about sound cards - they don't require much bandwidth. You can fit the card in any available PCI-E slot. Just ensure it is placed far away from your discerete GPU (if you have one) to avoid interference. Coil whine is a lottery, I have had 2 Corsair PSU's coil whine free. My EVGA current 750 watt PSU is coil whine free.... cables are so stiff it's impossible to get a tight bend in them to go from the motherboard into the cable management slots next to it. The sleeving on the 24 pin just looks cheap and nasty.... The pci-e cables have daisy.

Remove the additional PCIE power cable (s) remove the supporting anti-sag bracket (right end of the GPU) remove the screws and open the clamp holding the GPU in place (left end) and before trying to pull the GPU from the motherboard... remember to open the PCIE latch at the right end of the PCIE slot! You can see the latch in this picture. Daisy chaining in this case would be using a single power supply cable for multiple 6+2 PCI-E slots on the GPU. Recently, graphics cards have become exceedingly picky about the power they pull. Daisy chaining your PCIE power cables to your GPU could potentially be causing issues because the power draw is not properly regulated.

Grimfusion said: I just RMA'ed my 3080 Gigabyte Eagel OC today. The PCI connector pins looked like they were soldered on in a rush. 3 of the 8 pins in the connector closest to the back of the card are seated much lower than they should be and I suspect that might be a problem when it gets hot. By. btarunr. Aug 17th, 2016 01:45 Discuss (63 Comments) AMD's design of the Radeon RX 480 graphics card, which draws over 75W of power from the PCI-Express x16 slot, has cost it a product listing on the PCI-SIG Integrators List. The list is compiled for hardware devices implementing the various PCI-Express specifications to the letter.

Oct 11, 2021. #2. That coil whine thing is very weird. A graphics card should draw most of its power through the PCIe cables going to the card, direct from the PSU. Only a small fraction is drawn through the PCIe slot, and it's limited to 75W maximum. What you can try is, on MSI Z590 boards there is this useless PCIe power plug down at the. Using my speakers through 3.5mm speaker input I get electric interference through the speakers (deffo not coil whine) whenever the GPU is under load. When not gaming etc it is fine.... The card you have is shielded for RFI, what I would try is moving it to a different PCIe slot and one furthest away from the gpu, it could be the PCIe on the.

Think I'm finally done with my build. A bit of coil whine from the gpu, but it appears normal as my last one did the same. Had a bad dimm so had to get that exchanged but alas. I was convinced that this would fix my coil whine and be much more energy efficient. After plugging in the PCIe cable with an 8+6 daisy chained connection, there was no audible difference. I was quite frustrated and annoyed, but I gave up for a few days, but the coil whine drove me mad. So I took it all apart and added in a second PCIe cable.
Motherboard coil whine? - CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory.
Answer: Coil whine refers to any number of electrical whining noises produced by vibrating components on a GPU, these tend to occur when a graphics card produce hasn't put in to place any active measures to supress the resonance produced by the current running through any given part. It doesn't. Some motherboards have dedicated power line for audio. My X99A Gaming 7 has it. Check your mobo if it has anything like this. You have to plug the connector from PSU straight into motherboard (using an adapter). Though if it's coil whine on graphic card, it won't really help.

Ribbons 77. Re: GTX 970 FTW+ coil whine Thursday, January 29, 2015 7:23 PM ( permalink ) If an upgraded card is also doing the same thing, it may be time to look at the PSU. Sometimes the PSU can cause the coil whine, and getting a better PSU may help. Before you say, "but it's brand new" that doesn't always matter. May be eliminated by capping fps in precision xoc, msi afterburner or nvidia inspector as mentioned eventually go away, coil whine from my card diminished and finally went away after running non-stop stress tests (3dmark ice storm really made her squeal for a while) over a period of some you end up rma'ing the card within 30. I've heard a lot of reports to stay away from daisy chaining with these 3080's but, the coil whine is def less obvious when I use one although it is still there. Then run it like this. As long as your PSU isn't garbage (which it isn't), it'll be fine as the cable must be spec'd to carry upto 300W (assuming it's a pair of 6+2 pin PCIe cables).

First time with a high end GPU, just got the 3080 FTW3 Gaming Ultra (upgraded from rx480). I can hear it through my case and is louder than the fan noise. The noise is around the PCIE connectors, it is not the fans as I have tested them with the precision x1 software. In Warzone, even on the loading screen it is noisy, even limiting the fps. I positioned the shallow side of the grommet towards the PCI-E bracket to make sure the PCI-E connector fits into the slot. It took a mild amount of pressure to get the thumb screw in and I tightened it down until the PCI-E connector was fully seated. I'll see about getting some pictures this week if that would help.
